Lighting has Changed

A film for Philips Lighting that traces the evolution of lighting technology, incandescent to fluorescent to LED, through a single Rube Goldberg machine. Each segment of the chain corresponded to a generation of bulb. The brief was to make a category that has gone fully utilitarian feel interesting again, and to do it without slipping into pure nostalgia. The contraption did the heavy lifting: it gave the film its narrative spine, its visual humour, and its pacing. Made for Philips Lighting’s regional creative work in Asia Pacific.
